Amounting to a figure of approximately 1.5 billion Japanese yen, the order had been procured through Shanghai JiXiang Real Estate Co., Ltd., a joint-venture by Kerry Properties Limited, a Hong Kong-based real estate developer, and Shangri-La Asia Limited. Shipments of the elevators will begin in this September and will continue through July next year.
The Shanghai JingAn Kerry Centre will comprise of two towers, which will accommodate a number of offices and commercial facilities, including the Shangri-La Hotel as well as the Kerry Group’s business operation in mainland China.
According to the terms and conditions of the order, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will provide 42 high-speed elevators capable of speeds of 120 to 480 meters per minute, 37 low-speed elevators that can travel at 60 to 105 meters per minute and 48 escalators. Out of the 79 elevators, 72 of them, including all of the high-speed elevators and 30 of the low-speed elevators will be featuring an energy-saving power-regenerative function in order to comply with the increasing demand for energy saving solutions in China. Mitsubishi will manufacture all the elevators and escalators at its Inazawa Works in Japan, Mitsubishi Elevator Asia Co., Ltd. in Thailand and Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China. Kerry Properties Limited has given a second consecutive order to Mitsubishi Electric for elevators and escalators, as the company had previously received an order to supply high-speed elevators for the Kerry Group’s headquarters constructed in Hong Kong, in May 2009.
Previously this month, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced that sales of its MELSEC-F series micro programmable logic controllers or ‘PLCs’ surpassed 10 million units. The components control small machines and manufacturing systems used for packaging, printing, transporting, food processing, pressing and injection molding apart from other tasks.
